ABOUT THE ARTY XANTHE

Xanthe McCrea is an Australian visual artist born and raised in the New England region of New South Wales. Her artistic practice involves pulling colour and textures from various landscapes (primarily natural landscapes that she has visited). Xanthe enjoys developing artwork rich with both colour and texture and loves to work with a variety of mediums such as acrylic, oils, watercolour, impasto, soft pastel, and charcoal.

For as long as she can remember, Xanthe has always loved painting and drawing. Her family is very creative, cultivating a perfect environment for Xanthe to pursue her artistic and creative passions. She had the ability to follow this passion intently throughout high school and into university where she moved to Sydney to study Fine Arts at the University of New South Wales. During her time at university, Xanthe broadened her scope in creative abilities testing different disciplines such as ceramics and textile design. During the final year of her degree, she traveled to the Indian region of West Bengal to study traditional textile making which was an incredible experience and changed her perception of colour forever. To this day, Xanthe still enjoys dabbling in textile design, especially eco-dyeing and fabric pattern design.

In early 2020, Xanthe completed her bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. She now works full-time as a professional artist creating original artwork pieces, limited edition prints, and working closely with clients to create meaningful commission pieces.
